From 16th century Italy Commedia d'ell Arte is the root of all comic theatre. Take any modern day comedy character from Mr Bean to Derek Trotter and you can find them amongst commedia’s characters.

You will learn about the historical background of this genre and how this hugely physical, slapstick and half-masked comedy has survived through the ages.

The stock characters and comic routines or lazzi are central to this form of theatre and you will have many opportunities to experiment with these throughout the week. As well as participating in juggling, amateur acrobatics and various craft activities!

This then culminates in a longer devised performance at the end of the week with costumes, half masks and rubber chickens!!

A hugely enjoyable, practical course- a must for anyone who loves having fun with physical comedy!
